Josh is a fourth year natural scientist at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge. He is reading Materials Sciences in his integrated masters, after specialising in Materials Sciences and Physics earlier on. He is particularly interested in semiconductors and materials used for devices, such as LEDs, photovoltaics and quantum dots. His final year project was using a porous semiconducting material (Gallium Nitride) and nickel to make a new magneto-electric composite, that is, one which converts magnetic field into an electrical signal. He is currently writing up part of this project as a paper for publishing. Outside his studies, Josh has been president of the St. Catharine's natural sciences society (The John Ray Society) and is a keen musician, playing the drums in a neo-soul band and DJing at clubs around the city of Cambridge.
